Why We Do
Women and girls play a central role in shaping families, communities, and economies. Yet, across many parts of India, women continue to face systemic barriers that limit their access to education, healthcare, livelihoods, safety, and decision-making spaces. Gender inequality manifests through early marriage, limited economic opportunities, unpaid care burdens, restricted mobility, and inadequate access to resources and information.
Despite progress in policy and awareness, disparities persist in workforce participation, health outcomes, financial inclusion, and leadership representation. Adolescent girls, in particular, face challenges related to nutrition, education continuity, menstrual health, and life skills, which directly impact their long-term opportunities.
At DUA Foundation, we believe that empowering women is essential for inclusive and sustainable development. When women are informed, healthy, economically active, and confident, the impact extends across generations, improving family well-being, community resilience, and social equity.
